This is very clever! I really like the “3/2/1” increments of your character’s background – not only mechanically, but as it relates to a person’s real-life expertise in similar style!
I'm going to ask what may be a dumb question. Am I correct in my thinking of how the Background bonuses work before rolling? For example, if I were doing something with 50/50 odds and I had an applicable Career Bonus, would the 'yes' if you roll ... range become 1 - 8? Thanks. In addition, I do plan on using this system. It is SO simple and elegant. Easy mods could be made to it if necessary.
Two incredibly simple oracles to replace entire rulesets! You can easily tweak the background elements to make it fit your setting, which is great. Now I just have to figure out something to run it with. The grey matter is churning, but some one-sheet MORG adventures are needed, I think… :)
